Afshar Bag Face

Fine weavings like this are often thought to be a part of a dowry, perhaps to demonstrate the weaving skills of the prospective bride. This piece has great wool, wonderful deeply saturated colors, a soft handle, and a beautifully rendered boteh design. The inner white ground border effectively frames and accentuates the different visual plane of the field.
