Luri/Qashqa’i Bag

This bag is opened up to show the pile face and flat woven back. On the face, the weaver used white cotton in half the field then switched to all wool. The back is done in slit-tapestry using eccentric wefts to create a multicolor “lightening strike” design.

Size: 10” x 19” (25 x 48 cm.) opened
Warp: Dark brown wool and some ivory wool
Weft: Reddish brown wool
Pile: Wool and cotton, symmetrical knots, 7h x 9v = 63kpsi
Back: Slit-tapestry weave using eccentric wefts
